How much RAM does a Paper server need?

We recommend 6 GB of RAM to run Paper comfortably, with 3 GB as a practical minimum for a small setup. Paper itself is lightweight — your real memory use comes from the plugins, players, and world size you run on top of it.

Budget more heap as you add content and players: a plugin-heavy network on Paper wants noticeably more than a bare install. Keep -Xms and -Xmx matched so the JVM never resizes the heap under load.
